Beginning the year 1920 , Mr. Alfonzo Costanzo, grandfather of the present –day president of the company, begins the activity selling suckling-pigs. In those days, the activity was completely hand-made and at a low –scale production. The suckling-pigs were bred on the farms, being corn the main food given to them. The slaughter was handcrafted (homemade by Mr.Alfonzo Costanzo and his family.).It was then distributed in the Greater Buenos Aires, transported by the Urquiza Railway to Chacarita Railway Station and from there in carts to the farms and butchers´ shops.
Since then, quality and responsibility are attributes which identify the Costanzo family. In the forties, Ramon Vicente Costanzo, Mr. Alfonso Costanzo`s son, begins to work in the business who by the year 1960 is left as the head of the business and invests in infrastructure and vehicles, putting up a cold store and buying two trucks, one for the collecting of suckling pigs from the farm and the other as a cargo truck for the distribution of the farm produce.
In 1975 Jose Maria Costanzo, son of Ramon Vicente begins his training in the field and in a short time acquires enough experience to make use of it towards the end of the 70´s when he is left in charge of the business. Since, Jose Maria, has invested in installations, vehicles, extension of the production line and taken on more staff members which added to very good administrative negotiations has been able to extend the distribution chain to a nation-wide level. He also sparks off a sustained rise in the business, establishing September 28 th, 1992 the Frigorifico Costanzo
